Visual Story Talent Lab - we are closing the recruitment

ViSTa Lab is a new project for your screenwriters, directors and producers developing their feature films. Screenwriting workshops will be held by authors of such titles as multiple ward-winning „The Mole” or „One Floor Below” (screened in the Un Certain Regard section at the 2015 Cannes Film Festival). Alexandru Baciu, Rafael Lewandowski, Michał Oleszczyk – you can meet them in Sokołowsko in 5 weeks!

Below, we present the profiles of lecturers.

Alexandru Baciu was born in 1977, in Bucharest. In 1999 he graduated the Bucharest Film Academy, as Movie Director. He continued his studies at the University of Bucharest, Communication and PR departament, which he graduated in 2003. As a scriptwriter, Alex Baciu worked together with Răzvan Rădulescu and Radu Muntean for Muntean’s The Paper Will Be Blue (Locarno IFF 2006), Boogie (Cannes, Quinzaine des réalisateurs, 2008. Awarded Best Script at Hamptons IFF), Tuesday, After Christmas (Cannes, Nagroda przeglądu Un Certain Regard 2010), One Floor Below (Cannes, Un certain regard 2010. Awarded Best Script at Seville IFF and River-Run IFF). Muntean’s last film, Alice T., with a script by Alex Baciu, Răzvan Răduleascu and Radu Muntean premiered in Locarno where the lead won best actress. He also teamed up with Răzvan Rădulescu and wrote the scripts for Gruber’s Journey (2008), directed by Radu Gabrea and Principles of Life (San Sebastian IFF, 2010), directed by Constantin Popescu. In 2011, Alex Baciu co-directed, together with Radu Muntean, Visiting Room, a documentary produced by HBO Romania (Rotterdam IFF). Together with his wife, Maria Popistașu, he co-directed, in 2017, The Seagull, a short based on a script by Maria Popistașu (Cottbus IFF, Zagreb IFF).

Rafael Lewandowski - a director, screenwriter and producer born in France to a Polish-French family. A graduate of the Di-recting Department of the famous French film school La Femis. Rafael Lewandowski has made more than 10 documentaries and many films for television networks, cultural institutions as well as commercials and corporates. His feature debut, The Mole (Kret) starring B. Szyc, M. Dziędziel, and W. Pszoniak was much appreciated and won prizes at international film festi-vals. Since 1995, Rafael Lewandowski has been a regular speaker at the film workshops, an expert of film funding institutions, and a president or member of the jury of numerous festivals. In 2011, he received the Polityka weeklyʼs Passport (“Paszport Polityki”), and in 2015 he was awarded the Knight of the Order Arts and Letters by the French Government. 

Michał Oleszczyk - a script consultant and film critic based in Warsaw. He works as an Assistant Profes-sor at Artes Liberales Department of University of Warsaw and teaches screenwriting at Warsaw Film School. His writing on film has appeared at „Cineaste”, and at Criterion Collection website. He has served multiple times as a screenplay evaluation expert at Polish Film Institute, and between 2013-2016 worked as the Artistic Director of Poland’s largest festival of Polish films, Gdynia Film Festival. He is a guest script consultant at Screenplay Atelier, one of the leading screenwriting workshops in Poland. He has been awarded the Polish Film Institute Award for Best Polish Critic, the Jan Machulski Honorary Award for continuous support of independent Polish Filmmaking, as well as Krzysztof Mętrak Award for Best Young Polish Critic.
